Judy Chicago Bigamy Hood Towel

This large plush cotton blend towel features Judy Chicago's Bigamy Hood, 1965 an early image that appeared on both a painting and subsequently a car hood. The imagery references uninterrupted connection, brought about by the deaths of both Chicago's father and her first husband. The symbols include a broken heart, double crosses, and a phallic form that yearns for the female-centered forms at the top of the image. 60% cotton and 40% polyester. Machine Wash and tumble Dry. Measures 60 x 40 in.

The de Young museum in San Francisco celebrates pioneering feminist artist Judy Chicago with a retrospective spanning from the 1960s to the present. The exhibition includes around 150 works and related archival material that chart the boundary-pushing path of Chicago whose lifelong fight against the erasure of women's achievement and creativity have changed the course of history.
